Common Reasons Patients Book a Consultation
Patients from across New York City and beyond schedule visits with Dr. Wei Phin Tan for an elevated PSA, an abnormal prostate MRI showing a PI-RADS 3, 4, or 5 lesion, a new biopsy diagnosis of prostate cancer, or to discuss a second opinion on an existing treatment plan. Patients also schedule visits to discuss active surveillance, focal therapy (HIFU, cryoablation, Aliya PEF), precision robotic prostatectomy, rectal spacer placement before radiation therapy, and management of small renal masses or kidney cancer.
Newly Diagnosed Prostate Cancer
Just received a positive biopsy? Dr. Tan walks you through every option, surveillance, focal therapy, surgery, and radiation, so you can choose with full information.
Elevated PSA or PI-RADS 3, 4, or 5 MRI
Workup for elevated PSA or an abnormal prostate MRI, including office-based transperineal MRI fusion biopsy under local anesthesia.
Radiation Preparation
Office placement of SpaceOAR or Barrigel rectal spacers and gold fiducial markers before CyberKnife, IMRT, or proton therapy in appropriately selected patients.
Kidney Mass or Small Renal Mass
Second opinion and surgical evaluation for kidney tumors, including robotic partial and radical nephrectomy at NYU Langone.
